EDMG220 W8 EOP Assignment: Incident Specific Annex

Class, this is the third of three EOP assignments you will complete in this class:

In the first assignment (Week 6), you wrote an all-hazards EOP utilizing the Basic Plan.

In the second assignment (Week 7), you wrote an Emergency Support Function Annex for an EOP.

In this third and final assignment (Week 8), you will wrap it up by completing an Incident-Specific Annex for an EOP.

These three assignments will provide you with a considerable amount of knowledge on three main areas of the Emergency Operations Plan.

Overview

You are to write an Incident Specific annex describing the response to one specific type of incident that has the ability to produce mass casualties in Bobsville.

Your Incident Specific annex will show how Bobsville will respond to a single type of incident such as a tornado.

Also, EOP annexes are written for the federal, state, and local levels. The annex you are writing is a local level annex for Bobsville.

Resources

Bobsville Information: The Town of Bobsville information is the basis for your Incident Specific annex. Please click the Bobsville Information link for that information.

EDMG101 Hazard Vulnerability Assessment: If you have taken EDMG101, use the Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA) you created in that class.

Sample Hazard Vulnerability Assessment: If you have not taken EDMG101, use the sample I provided by clicking the Sample Hazard Vulnerability Assessment link.

Comprehensive Preparedness Guide: Please see page 102 of the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide for additional information on Hazard- or Threat Specific Annexes.

Incident Specific Annex Example: Additional information can be found in the Incident Specific Annex Example I provided. The example provides you with additional information on the Annex and shows what an EOP looks like. Please click the Incident Specific Annex Example link.

Note: The Incident Specific Annex Example document I have provided is a Georgia state-level incident Specific Annex for flooding. It is just an example but can be easily used to help you with your local level Annex by changing up some of the wording.

Consult other Online EOPs: You should also consult other Annexes you find online as a reference but you should alter the details to fit the Bobsville location. There are many Local Incident Specific Annexes online. It is your responsibility to research those Annexes to help you with this assignment.

Future Use of this Assignment

You will use this document in future classes and execute this plan so help yourself by being thorough.

Requirements

The Incident Specific Annex Required Sections I want in your Annex are found below and in the provided Incident Specific Annex Template found below.

1. Do not add any additional sections. Only use what is found in the template. I am constantly seeing a Promulgation Statement even though the template does not call for a Promulgation Statement.
2. Use the exact headings and numbering as is found in the template. Do not add any additional numbers or headings or change the numbers or headings found in the template.
3. Use bullet points if you need to distinguish between certain items in a section, but do not add additional numbers. Also, do not add additional sections. I only want what is in the template.

Incident Specific Annex Template: You must follow this Incident Specific Annex Template exactly. Please Click the Incident Specific Annex Template link.

Bobsville City Seal: I have also provided a city seal for Bobsville that you are more than welcome to use for your cover page. Please click the Bobsville City Seal link.

Copying and Pasting

It is best to not Copy and Paste information into the above sections as I have seen too many students forget to change the font or the formatting, and have even forgotten to take out other cities’ names. Huge points loss for these mistakes.

Citing and Referencing

It is common practice in the Emergency Management field to share and adopt proven documents and templates which are then tailored to account for local hazards and resources available. Because of that, you do not need to cite or reference any sources you use to help in the development of your EOP.

Word of Caution

I have found in past classes where students are going to sites online, buying the papers for this assignment, and then submitting them as their own. If you are caught doing so, it will be an automatic F. Though you can look at other EOPs online from cities, counties, or states for inspiration, submitting the work of another student is plagiarism.

Additional Instructions

You can either single space or double space your EOP.
You must utilize the Verdana 12 point black font.
You paper’s top, bottom, left, and right margins must be set at 1-inch.
