Swamped with your writing assignments? Take the weight off your shoulder!
For the assignments in Modules 6 through 9, you will play the role of a very busy, highly sought-after innovation consultant. Clients come to you for help with all kinds of products and services. On the next page is a list of your current clients. For each of the assignments you will choose one of the products or services. You may choose the same one or a different one each time, but only choose one per assignment.
Applying the Multiplication Template
Use the Multiplication template for the Function Follows Form process, to innovate new products or services. Choose a product or service from the list and complete the following steps.
List the components of the product or service you’ve chosen. For a service, the components can be steps in the service cycle instead of physical components and the service cycle may have customer-facing and back-office components.
Multiply one component and assign a new attribute value to each of the newly created component copies.
For example, if the product is a ballpoint pen, you can multiply the blue ink chamber to result in three ink chambers instead of one. The second chamber can have black ink and the third ink chamber can have red ink.
Generate as many ideas as you can for innovative uses of the product or service with its multiplied component. Each new use should bring value to someone.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for two other components of the same product or service you’ve chosen (a total of three different components).
Pick your favorite resulting innovative idea and submit it as indicated below.
Please submit your assignment in the following format:
The product or service you chose and the list of components (at least 5 components)
Component you multiplied
Innovative uses for the new product or service and who would benefit
