Providing safe and effective patient care is critical for all healthcare organizations. There are a multitude of issues in healthcare nationwide, but one that has gained attention recently is the case of RaDonda Vaught. She is a former Vanderbilt University Medical Center nurse convicted on March 25, 2022, of gross neglect and criminally negligent homicide for a fatal drug error contributing to the death of 75-year-old patient Charlene Murphey.
This assignment will afford you the opportunity to perform research, gather evidence, and write in support of one of the following: (1) RaDonda Vaught, (2) Vanderbilt University Medical Center, or (3) Charlene Murphey and family. The story is easy to view from all three sides. There were grave errors made that sadly contributed to the loss of a life. While your opinion can be expressed in the paper, it must be supported by evidence. Another angle is that you don’t have to use your opinion for the paper; you can argue a varying opinion from your own.

Criteria:
Provide an introductory paragraph summarizing the facts/history of the case.
Discuss support of one of the following: (1) RaDonda Vaught, (2) Vanderbilt University Medical Center, or (3) Charlene Murphey and family.
Support your statements with evidence from at least three different references. Make sure to explain how evidence-based practice (EBP) is involved in this case (i.e. system overrides, nursing rights of medication administration, etc.)
Provide a conclusion paragraph.
Utilize correct spelling, grammar, & punctuation.
Utilize correct APA format, APA style, & academic writing; title and reference page.
Provide correct citations & references.
