This assignment aligns with CACREP (2016) standard(s):
CACREP 5.C.2.c – mental health service delivery modalities within the continuum of care, such as inpatient, outpatient, partial treatment and aftercare, and the mental health counseling services networks
Before you can evaluate a research article, it is important to know how to read a research article. Read the Hudson-Barr (2004) article before you read the Flannery et al. (2011) article.
Articles to Review:
Hudson-Barr, D. (2004). How to read a research article. Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing, 9(2), pp. 70-72.
Flannery, F., Adams, D., & O’Connor, N. (2011, February). A community mental health service delivery model: Integrating the evidence base within existing clinical models. Australasian Psychiatry, 19(1), 49-55. https://doi.org/10.3109/10398562.2010.539220
Then, find the Flannery article by going back to the “Database A-Z” page through the library homepage. Select “Academic Search Premiere (EBSCO)”, and sign in with your student ID number and password. Copy and paste the title of the article into the search field, and hit enter. Then, select PDF Full Text and download that to read.
After reviewing BOTH of these articles, write a one- to two-page paper, reflecting on the following questions:
The abstract: was it concise and explanatory?
The research question: How easy was it to find and identify?
What were the identified limitations of the research?
What recommendations were made for further research?
What is something unique you learned from each article?
Be sure to integrate both articles in your paper. The first article (Hudson-Barr, 2004) will help you read the second (Flannery & O’Connor, 2011) article. Do not summarize the articles. Use APA formatting for the paper and academic writing skills. When completed, click on the Session 5 Research Written Assignment link and upload your paper. Make sure to submit your assignment by the posted due date. Review the rubric available in Due Dates and Grades for specific grading criteria.
Important: To find the Hudson-Barr article, locate the “Database A-Z” button on the library homepage. Scroll down to select “ProQuest Psychology Journals” and sign in using your student ID number and password. Copy and paste the title of the article (make sure the title is in quotations) into the search field and hit enter. Then, select PDF Full Text and download that to read.
I have BOTH PDF’s attached.
