Urban geographies are vast and varied. In this class we have been presented with a particular reading of urban experiences. For this assignment, I want you to analyze a documentary, film, podcast, newspaper reading, or book of fiction about a particular urban experience. Or you can choose to talk about your own personal experiences of a particular city. Perhaps you want to watch a documentary that analyzes the experiences of undocumented people in cities? Or that showcases the effects of gentrification in Los Angeles? You may also analyze a song and what it says about the urban. Although you can choose the material of your choosing, you have to analyze the material utilizing course readings and themes. You must utilize at least two course readings in your analysis. Your task is to first tell me why you chose the material and what it presents us about urban geography. Next you tell me about the material and how it relates to course themes and readings. You will be graded on how well you weave in and analyze course readings and themes.
**3 PAGES, MUST INCORPORATE AT LEAST TWO READINGS**

Issues with spelling, grammar, or incomplete sentences.

The United States has been spending billions of dollars helping a pro-U.S. country, Ukraine, defeat the troops that invaded from Russia, traditionally a rival (and sometimes enemy) of the U.S.
Some people say that the United States has no business spending billions of dollars (helping Ukraine) that could be better spent in this country, and that if Russia keeps grabbing land from its European neighbors it doesn’t affect us, and American money should not be spent stopping the Russians. Why is this a valid argument and/or why is this not a valid argument?
• The length of the essay should be 3-4 pages (at least 3 full pages, double-spaced, size 12 font,
Calibri, Arial, or Times New Roman font preferred). This requirement is for the actual body of
the paper. It does not include the title page, the references section, pictures, figures, or tables,
or anything else that is not the main body of the essay. Only Word or PDF documents, please.
• There should be at least two citations. They can be from the textbook, from an academic
book, legitimate news source or website (this does not include opinion, shock/sensationalist,
social media, etc. websites). Wikipedia is also not an acceptable source.
• Citations should appear in-text, and then be listed on the references section, using the APA
Reference Style. A guide to the APA Reference Style to cite in-text and as a reference is also
posted on Canvas.
• The purpose of the essays is for you to demonstrate that you can do a discussion based on the
different topics or questions that are posted, developing and supporting your arguments. The
point of these essays is not for you to write what you think I want to hear. I welcome different
and unconventional points of view just like I welcome all other points of view.
• Do your own work! Submissions will be filtered through Turnitin to detect plagiarism.
Having said that, you may seek tutoring in the Writing Center.

the recommendation that at the very least you get an F in the course, plus any other penalties
that Academic Affairs determines may apply upon a second instance of plagiarism.
